Non Vitreous Ceramic Tile

I found the perfect color tile for my bathroom surround.
Non vitreous ceramic tile. Non vitreous low density tile with water absorption of more than 7 0 percent. The non vitreous tiles are glazed i missed that the first time. Some types of tiles may crack if the moisture penetration is too high. The fact that it is so water absorbent means you shouldn t install non vitreous tile in showers and other wet areas.
Please let me know if my new found assumptions are correct or incorrect. Also the 2x2 corner bullnose for the 2x6 edge bullnose is also non vitreous i don t know if that is common or not. The four different ratings for tile moisture absorption are. Because non vitreous ceramic tile costs manufacturers less to produce it s usually cheaper to purchase than vitreous tile.
I was wanting to incorporate at least some 6x6 tiles and possibly a matching mosaic to make a pattern on the walls but of course they are all non vitreous. These are for indoor use only normally on vertical surfaces such as backsplashes and wainscots. Thus i believe they should be fine for the shower install the concern was that the rest of the tile can absorb water vs a vitreous tile that would absorb much less and less of an issue. Absorb between 0 5 and 3. These absorb between 3 and 7.
