Ocean Floor Shallow

The kelp can be as tall as 20 meters 66 feet.
Ocean floor shallow. Sea lions swim. Open water is dark blue and land masses are gray. The deep ocean floor. This graphic shows several ocean floor features on a scale from 0 35 000 feet below sea level.
Arctic ocean sea ice. Benthos is the community of organisms which live on in or near the seabed the area known as the benthic zone. The rest of the water covered area comprises mainly shallow seas the continental shelves and lakes. The huge kelp creates an underwater forest where many different animals live.
Usually less than 200 meters in depth. This community lives in or near marine sedimentary environments from tidal pools along the foreshore out to the continental shelf and then down to the abyssal depths the benthic zone is the ecological region on in and immediately above the seabed including the sediment surface. Continental shelf the shallow gradually sloping seabed around the edge of a continent. The following features are shown at example depths to scale though each feature has a considerable range at which it may occur.
In september 2011 sea ice covering the arctic ocean declined to the second lowest extent on record. In this image ice covered areas range in color from white highest concentration to light blue lowest concentration. About three quarters of our planet s surface is covered with water and the deep basins of the ocean floor account for approximately nine tenths of this water covered area that is some two thirds of the earth s surface. The continental shelf can be thought of as the submerged edge of a continent.
These are places where large brown algae called kelp grow from the ocean floor all the way to the surface of the water.
